Fresh bread, onion cake, and Federweißer in Graach – Baking Day for a Good Cause on October 17 Graach.
When the scent of freshly baked bread and hearty onion cake wafts through Graach, it’s Baking Day at the historic baking house "Baakes" again. On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Baking Community of Graach warmly invites you to the traditional Baking Day.
Under the motto "Baking for a Good Cause," the historic wood-fired oven will be heated up properly once more. The team begins preparations early in the morning. Traditionally, the oven is fueled with vine shoots – an old method that provides the necessary heat and gives the baked goods their very special character. Various types of bread will be baked: wheat mix bread, rye mix bread, and rye mix bread with seeds. Of course, a special Moselle specialty should not be missed: freshly baked onion cake from the wood oven.
Complementing this is a glass of Federweißer. The onion cake is offered by the slice and can be enjoyed directly at the baking house in a cozy atmosphere. This way, Baking Day will also become a autumn gathering for young and old this year.
Pre-orders are possible
If you want to secure your favorite bread, you can order in advance. Since the baking capacity of the historic wood oven is limited, the Baking Community recommends an early pre-order.
Pre-orders can be placed at: Email: baakes.graach@web.de Phone: 0171 / 2012301 The sale of the freshly baked breads begins on Saturday, October 17, at 3:00 p.m. – while supplies last.
Locals, guests, friends, and vacationers are warmly invited to spend an enjoyable autumn afternoon at the historic baking house. With fresh bread, onion cake, and Federweißer, there’s an opportunity to engage in conversation while also supporting the work of the Baking Community of Graach. The proceeds from the Baking Day go to a good cause. Fresh bread, onion cake, and Federweißer – while supplies last.
